Eating my problems

For a long time, I have had problems during or shortly after eating. This is definitely in the too much information category so I’ll spare you the details. Suffice it to say there was a lot of intestinal upset and extreme discomfort to deal with. I spent years trying to figure it out. First with my doctor, then on my own.

No, I am not allergic to anything, it was not any particular restaurant, food item, cooking oil, it was not dairy, nothing like that. I relentlessly checked and researched everything it could be. I wanted to get to the bottom of it. I knew there was something worth discovering besides the obvious physical relief.

My research involved tracking when I ate, where I ate, how I ate, what was going on in my life that day. The whole shebang. My research showed that meal time was often the only time in my busy day I could relax. So I sat there in a daze, eating my food way too quickly and unconsciously, solving any problems on my plate. Going from being married to divorced and on your own means you are the only landlord, plumber, doctor, electrician, carpenter, bookkeeper, veterinarian, and fixer of problems at your household. There was much to think on. I came to call this unconscious and hurried consumption eating my problems. This was not a good way to take in nourishment! But there is more to it than that. This was the beginning of the solution to a long-term problem.

The realization that my GI tract was super sensitive and had a purpose beyond its normal function unlocked a lot of mysteries from my life. As a child I was swallowing those pink Pepto Bismol pills like candy. Children shouldn’t need to do this! I would run to the medicine cabinet downstairs to get them just in time to avoid an upset. This was usually while my parents were having a blowout. A typical week brought many of these upsetting verbally abusive, violent events. Looking back I must have been in great distress. And since my mother had her hands full dealing with the violence and atmosphere on her own, I could not always run to her for comfort.

If you have read my blog, you know by now my credo of Everything is Energy. A book I read that reinforces this in terms of your body being a large antenna for energy and vibes is The Tao of Equus: One woman’s journey of healing and transformation by way of the Horse, by Linda Kohanov. I highly suggest it as a great metaphysical, spiritual, horse, history and mythology lovers read. One of her main observations about the horse is, their largest, most accurate physical sensing tool is their gut. Their miles of intestines are super sensitive to energetic vibes all around them. Horses are, after all, prey animals and are always looking for danger in their natural environment. This concept can be easily understood and applied to the human as well. I too relied on this large sensing organ. My gut always told me if things were good or bad, safe or unsafe. It was my litmus test for life. It was my most reliable tool.

As a newly awakened, highly sensitive empath and intuitive, I now realize how easily I can be upset by, or in tune with the vibes, the atmosphere in a room, being in close proximity to anger, an argument, or fear. This really affects me greatly, and much more so than I realized. I knew our bodies are great antennas for picking up on all energies because I had my own personal proof. Almost all intuitive communications, for me, are sensed this way first—unless I’m asleep and dreaming. It is a good thing really. I can fine tune where I spend my time, how long I stay in a place of anger or bad vibes. I can sense if I am in good company or really good juju. So, for my new life, this gut sensing thing was working for me. But what was happening to this wonderful sensing tool of mine that I was in such distress? Was I misusing it, misunderstanding it, or on overload?

I knew the energy angle would tell me what I needed to know. As my research progressed, I felt like I was taking in bad energy, or too much disjointed, wiggling, frenetic vibes when I ate. I also discovered that in cases of high, happy energy, eating made me even more sick. I realized part of the problem was beyond being able to sense things energetically. I had to be more mindful what I do with this energy. NOW we are getting somewhere! Almost there!  Continue reading

On the word psychic

Years ago it was amazing if you knew anyone who knew anyone who admitted to being psychic, or even interested in such things. If you said you were one, you’d be ostracized by society and your family and friends would disown you. Between the misconceptions from Hollywood movies, and the hotline that promised to tell you all about your life and ‘predict’ your future, the term got a bad rap.

I have never liked the word psychic because it carries undeserved negative connotations. It is overused, inaccurate, and grossly misunderstood. Time to shed a very off-putting term that totally misrepresents. And time to move on to a new term that more accurately represents what many of us do and feel. I like it when people are accurate about their abilities. That is what I have come to honor and respect. The word psychic is out of my vocabulary and instead I use the term intuitive, intuitive reader, or intuitive healer.

Contrary to popular belief intuitives don’t know everything about everyone. It does not work like that. Imagine the sensory overload! And they don’t and shouldn’t ever predict the future. Why? Because you have free will, and you are always in charge of your own life. No one and nothing can change that. I have three pages devoted to clarity and truth about readings under my services menu: About Readings, Readings fact and fiction, and Before & After a reading.

People who read for others are highly intuitive, and more in touch with Spirit. They don’t see the future laid out before them. Anyone that tells you they can see your future and tells you what to do is full of it. It’s more like getting small snippets of advice from Spirit and/or your guides to help you on your path. I’ve heard it described like this: Getting a glimpse of the ‘other side’ is like looking at this other world through a hole the size of a pin prick. Your life is yours to create, and all any gifted intuitive person should do is be a go between, a connection, between you/your questions, and Spirit.

Note the term Guides, it’s pretty accurate. Spirit/your guides will never tell you what to do. They will never ever make a choice for you. It’s not their role. They don’t have the authority to push you through an open door. They will guide you, and show you options. You must make a choice for yourself. Think of it this way, every single moment in your life you are making a choice, even if you are not doing anything. I am reminded of lyrics from a song called Freewill by Rush.

“If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.”

Use readings for insights and guidance to make the best choices for your path forward. I would rather see someone never get a reading in their life, but instead work on honing their skills of intuition, than have a bad reading experience. I do intuitive readings to be a link between you and your guides if you have questions or want guidance. Don’t ever let anyone take the responsibility for running your life out of your hands. You are always in charge. You are the captain of your ship! Steer wisely!

Comments, stories, opinions and personal insights are always welcome!

On Guides

Guides are beings that help us with our life’s journey. Much like the idea of a guardian angel. Some stick with us for life, other specialists can come and go, depending on what is happening in our lives. When I say guides, the word is also a hint at what their role is in our lives. They can’t and won’t make us do anything. That is not their purpose. They are our helpers on the other side, assisting us in what we want to accomplish. If we go off track, they cajole, they hint, they advise, they knock us over the head with a 2×4 in order to get our attention. They help us learn a lesson that keeps repeating in our life. They can come in with specialized information depending on what’s going on. Are you building a home? Getting a divorce? Preparing for your first child? Speaking in front of a large crowd for the first time? Starting your own business? Dealing with your in-laws? Guides with such experience or information will come and go throughout our lives as we need them.

How guides communicate with us
They communicate with us through many channels. I get visions or quick snapshots of images, hear a word or two in my head, keep hearing a song on the radio, keep seeing a particular image or color repeated. My dreams are a big way they communicate with me. Those dreams are usually very short and very crystal clear. As if time has stopped. They communicate through many channels and in events called synchronicities. Communicating through our Intuition is a big way they communicate with us. Pay attention to and develop your intuition and messages and information will come at you with more regularity.

Guides never push us through a door
It is up to us to choose the next door to walk through. I think of it this way: Guides can bring us to a door, or series of doors (choices), but they cannot make us walk through the door. That’s up to us. We are the captains of our ship, guides are just swabbing the poop deck and hoisting the mainsail! Well, not really, but you get the idea. I call them my lightworker team or celestial crew.

The Intuitive Reader and Guides—How it Works
Some native american tribes describe the person doing a reading as a hollow bone. A hollow bone for the flow of information from Spirit to Earth. That’s a great analogy. The intuitive does not ‘know’ this information and it does not come from them. It comes from Spirit. They do not ‘predict’ your future, you are given information from Spirit, for your best path forward.

If you are the one having a reading, the intuitive will first ask for permission for the exchange of information to occur. This happens in the blink of an eye. It’s like knocking on someone’s door instead of just walking in without notice. It’s the polite thing to do. That’s my understanding of the process.

If the sitter wished for this information to come to them personally, they can work on recognizing and developing their intuitive skills. It’s possible. 🙂 I teach classes on developing intuition. Check it out here.

Having an Open Heart
If you are having a reading and you do not have an open heart, no information will come through. That’s the very first step, is for both parties involved to take some deep breaths, sit quietly, and open their hearts, allowing Continue reading

What is intuition?

The best way I can explain it is to say it’s your gut reaction to things, events, people. That’s how it starts. Your body is a large antenna for All That Is, and all that’s going on energetically. Your intuition is often felt on the Spirit/Universal-level, but experienced or felt somewhere physically in your body. Ever feel a sense of dread in your gut as you walk into a room of people? You can tell when something is ‘in the air’, or when there is something wrong. It’s your Spidey Senses kicking in. Your intuition is telling you, through your body, something is off. That’s the way I discovered my intuition. Always trust your gut. Your gut will not lie to you. Always trust your gut over your logical mind, or even over your heart if in doubt. Your gut reaction is never wrong.

Intuition is of course much richer, and much more complex than the above description, but that’s the best way I can describe sensing the beginnings of intuition. It’s much more powerful that many of us realize. I leave it up to you, the reader to do research, make your own decisions, and experiment on your own. That way once you accept a new concept or thing, it’s totally yours. That’s the best way to proceed if unsure of something new. Always do your own, personal research. Whatever information does not resonate with you, drop it. Feel free to accept what does resonate with you.

When you start sensing and using it to your advantage, you can do much to move your life forward in ways you never imagined before, for your higher good and the good of the planet. Intuition is also one way Spirit/The Universe/All That Is uses to communicate with us. It’s how you are nudged and how hints are communicated to you. Using intuition to live on a moment-by-moment basis doing everyday things is how I have lived my life for many years. I can hardly imagine a time I did not use my intuition, and I can’t imagine how I lived before I started using it.

For me personally, it can come as the usual gut reaction, or feeling like butterflies in my stomach. Or just that sub-vocal whisper in my subconscious, or a red flag feeling/sensing sort of feeling. Think Spidey Senses. Pay attention to those! I have also gotten messages through visuals that pop into my head, much like the old slide projector shows. A slide pops up, stays on screen for a few seconds, and is gone. A song on the radio may be playing lyrics that I should pay attention to, that are meaningful for me at the moment. There are countless ways intuition can be sensed, felt and seen.

Intuition is one of the greatest tools for a self-actualized, self-directed, You are the author of your life way of living. Don’t discount it. Start paying attention. Pay attention to that voice in the stillness. Explore. Research, and start using this wonderful tool brought to us directly by the Universe and All That Is.

I could go on and on about intuition, but I would rather write just enough to get a spark started in you. In a future blog post I will talk more on intuitive hits.

Feel free to comment, discuss and leave me a note in the comments section. Happy research!

On gossip and complaining

Not engaging in gossip in a small office or group of people is very hard to do. Gossip may start out in the form of being strictly information. But be careful. I have often been tempted to join in. It is a lifelong work in progress and I constantly work on being more positive and happy. At the time of writing this article, I have been at my current job over fourteen years. There is a high potential for a lot of baggage to have collected over the years. Learning to let go is a good habit. Learning not to collect the baggage in the first place is even better! I am proud to say that where I work, there is very little gossip these days.

Gossiping doesn’t make for a happy day at work, and it only makes you feel less in control of your situation. On top of that it leaves you feeling worse than when you began. There’s a reason for that. Being a gossip or engaging in negative talk results in much lower-vibrational energy and much lower feelings of worth. It’s not worth it just to fit in and go along with the crowd, or be one of the gang.

For me, going with group mentality and not rocking the boat has been a lifelong habit of self-survival. I am now finding this does not suit my spiritual growth. If I find that I have slipped and gossiped or complained about a coworker or situation—even if it seems I am being factual and only reporting what I observe—I get a physical feeling in my gut that is uncomfortable. I know it was wrong to do and was negative energy. This feeling is a physical manifestation of my intuition telling me I have been engaging in a low-vibrational activity that does not suit my higher good. Continue reading

Everything is energy

That’s my personal mantra. It’s something I’ve learned through observation and experience. The Universal Flow is made up of energy, as are thoughts and emotions. Energy is almost one and the same with the Universal Flow. It is the matrix within all of us lives our lives. There isn’t a thing that does not have energy. Even a rock has moving molecules, albeit they move very slowly and not too much. Manmade substances move too at the molecular level. It’s all energy.

photo-1443926818681-717d074a57af.jpeg

The type of energy that I am most interested in, and that affects our lives on a daily basis is, the energy that we feel and interact with from other people, places, things and events. Feelings, emotions and words especially carry their own vibes, their own energetic signature. Everything is Energy is what I live my life by in terms of sensing what the energy is like around me, or in a place I am going to, or when I am going to be in a meeting, or be with a certain person or group of people. It’s a big part of the co-creation process and manifesting.

I teach a class on working with Universal Flow and developing intuition. Energy sensing through mind, intuition, and body are a big part of this class. You can learn to sense this energy and work with it. Setting your inner hum, your intent, is a big part of having a successful day of navigating the jungles of space and time. But for big ideas and beliefs like this, I leave it to the reader to do their own research and have their own experiences in determining whether or not this is true for them. For me it certainly is.

What the heck is Universal Flow?

So, you ask what the heck is Universal Flow? You talk about it all the time and it’s one of the classes you teach. The answer boys and girls is, it’s the energetic flow of life all around you, and within you. This includes all of nature, emotions, feelings, people, and even places. You can tap into it, go with the flow, get a read on different situations and act accordingly. Much like surfing, there will be ups and downs in the flow, but you can learn to ride these waves.

photo-1444703686981-a3abbc4d4fe3.jpeg

It’s a place of feeling, sensing or knowing. Have you ever walked into a room and, without anyone saying a word, you can feel there is tension as thick as pea soup? That’s you sensing the Universal Flow in one particular flavor. Tension, which is fear based. Everyone in the room contributes to this in one form or another. They may be creating the tension by stirring the pot or confronting someone. Or they may be bystanders affected by witnessing the events unfolding.

You might feel a different flavor of Flow in a crowded event that is fun and uplifting. It’s not just your own emotions you are feeling, there is also a general vibe that is being broadcast. Especially an event with a lot of people such as an outdoor concert. Remember, you are a sender and receiver of energetic vibrations. Here is an article on the topic by Steve Pavlina.

One place where you are sure to pick up on this vibe is almost any airport. Most everyone is in a rush, hates the ordeal of checking in hours before their flight, standing in line, waiting for their flight, and hearing of delays. For me it is going into one particular chain store, larger than several football fields. The air is stale and seems to suck the very life essence out of me after about five minutes! I take special pains to not go in that store, if I don’t absolutely have to. The vibe in there is awful.

Setting your inner vibe to a loving intent for the day helps you to sense the lay of the land of the bigger picture—the Universal Flow. This is also a place from which you may apply the Law of Attraction. You are working in a co-creative effort when you use your intent and the Laws of Attraction to direct your life. If you have an intent of loving kindness, you will attract more of the same. Life is a lot easier that way!

Once you are open to feeling and sensing different energies from people, places and events, you will start getting intuitive nudges on how to act, what to do. You will feel more confident in trusting your own intuition and going with the flow. These intuitive hits or nudges may help you in difficult situations, as well as everyday, routine tasks. In any case, that’s my simplified version of what Universal Flow is. I use it every single day, in every part of my life, no matter how small, and I have never felt more empowered or free!
